People search for Fedena alternatives for three reasons, and they are worth separating because they lead to different answers: the edition you need costs more than you expected, the product is school-shaped and you have become a college or university, or you want the company that wrote the software to implement it rather than a partner. Work out which of the three is yours before you look at a single demo.
We build DigiERP, which is one of the alternatives below — so read this as a vendor’s guide, not an independent review. We have listed the other products by what they are built for and have deliberately not published their pricing or feature scorecards, because we cannot verify those for your institute today. The comparison method at the end works on all of us equally.
The alternatives worth a shortlist
For schools (K-12)
- DigiERP — all modules on one flat annual AMC, unlimited students, staff and parent accounts, live in 1–2 weeks, implemented by the team that builds it.
- Entab CampusCare — school ERP with a strong parent-communication app.
- MyClassboard — K-12 school management with parent and teacher apps.
- Teachmint — classroom-first; the right choice if teaching, not paperwork, is your problem.
- Vidyalaya — long-running Indian school ERP across the standard administrative modules.
- Skolaro — school management from admissions through examinations.
For colleges and universities
- DigiERP — UG, PG and PhD, NEP 2020 and CBCS, university examinations with backlog and revaluation, affiliated colleges in one installation with separated data, all on one flat annual price.
- MasterSoft — higher-education specialist with a visible accreditation-reporting emphasis.
- Academia ERP (Serosoft) — higher education, universities and multi-programme colleges.
- Camu — higher education with outcome-based education workflows.
- Creatrix Campus — accreditation, outcomes and faculty workflows.
- Ellucian — global higher-education suite, generally for large universities with budgets to match.
If you have technical people in-house
- OpenEduCat and other Odoo-based education modules, or ERPNext Education — no licence fee, but the cost lands in implementation, hosting and whoever maintains it. Sensible only if you genuinely have the technical capacity, because an unmaintained ERP is worse than a spreadsheet.
The three reasons people actually switch
- The price moved. Per-student or edition-based pricing means the cost rises with your intake and with every extra staff login. The fix is to ask every shortlisted vendor for a three-year figure assuming 20% enrolment growth and ten more logins — not a first-year discount.
- They outgrew school-shaped software. A college needs programme structures, credit management, backlog and revaluation, moderation, transcripts and degree records. A university needs affiliated colleges in one place. School products are not built for that, and bolting it on rarely works.
- Migration and support stalled. Ten years of admission registers and mark ledgers have to become searchable records, and somebody has to sit with the fee clerk. Ask which organisation does that work, how long it takes and what it costs.
Switching cost is real. Before you move, make the incumbent quote renewal in writing — sometimes the honest answer is that staying is cheaper than changing, and you should know that before you spend a term on a migration.
What DigiERP commits to, in writing
- One flat annual AMC. Unlimited students, staff and parent accounts. No per-user charge, no per-module charge, no hidden charges. Adding people to the system costs nothing, which is the difference between live data and week-old data.
- All 18 modules included. Admissions, academics, fees, attendance, timetable, examinations, certificates, library, hostel, transport, HR and payroll, accounts, inventory, portals and reporting arrive together rather than being sold one at a time.
- Live in 1–2 weeks. Process mapping, data import, your own formats on receipts and mark sheets, then training.
- Implemented by the people who build it. No reseller in between.
- Unlimited support and training sessions for as long as you are with us.
- Exit on one month’s written notice, with a free data handover. Your institution owns its data.
- A university and its affiliated colleges run in one installation, with each college’s data kept separate.
The five questions that actually decide it
Every campus ERP brochure in India lists the same modules. The decision is never made on that list — it is made on these five, and you should put them to every vendor on your shortlist including us.
- How is it priced, and what is the bill in year three? Per-student and per-user licensing means the cost rises every intake and every time you let another clerk into the system. Ask for a three-year figure in writing, not a first-year discount.
- Who does the implementation — the company that wrote the software, or a partner? Somebody has to sit with your fee clerk and import your records. Find out which organisation that is before you sign.
- Show me a concession and a refund on screen. Not a slide. A half-year waiver applied mid-term, a scholarship that lands after the receipt, an instalment plan renegotiated in December, a refund on withdrawal. This is where most education ERPs quietly come apart.
- Will it produce our university’s exact reporting format? Bring the current format to the meeting and make them run it. “Almost right” is a re-typing job every examination cycle, forever.
- How do we get our data out if we leave? Ask for the exit clause in writing. A vague answer is the answer.
How to settle it in an afternoon
Do not start with a demo. Bring one real process — this year’s admission list, or last term’s fee register with its concessions and instalments intact — and ask each vendor to run it in front of you. Half an hour of that tells you more than a two-hour presentation, and it is the single fastest way to separate software that fits your institute from software that merely demonstrates well.
If you want to put DigiERP through that test, call +91 83498 62321 or write to contact@digierp.in and send us your own file. Send us your tender document too, if you have one, and we will answer it clause by clause with a yes or a no.
